An Application of Optimisation for Passive RF Component Design

چکیده
The solution of computational electromagnetic simulations is integral to the design process. As higher performance computers become more available, the application of optimisation techniques to reduce design times becomes more feasible. This paper presents the application of Parallel BFGS and Adaptive Simulated Annealing in minimising the transmission through a ceramic bead suppressor on a straight wire transmission line.

On the Design Requirement Analysis and RF Validation of High-Rejection Passive Block Bandpass Filter for an Advanced STB Up-Converter
This paper proposes the design requirements and target specifications of a high-rejection radio frequency (RF) Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filter for an advanced digital set top box (STB) converter. The target application is in the Cable TV (CATV) domain for both retail customers and high-end cable operators. The RF frequency range of the STB is between 50-860MHz for the downstream path and 5-4...
متن کاملDesign and fabrication of an effective micromixer through passive method
Micromixer is a significant component of microfluidics particularly in lab-on-chip applications so that there has been a growing need for design and fabrication of micromixers with a shorter length and higher efficiency. Despite most of the passive micromixers that suffer from long mixing path and complicated geometry to increase the efficiency, our novel design suggests a highly efficient micr...
متن کاملEmergency department resource optimisation for improved performance: a review
Emergency departments (EDs) have been becoming increasingly congested due to the combined impacts of growing demand, access block and increased clinical capability of the EDs. This congestion has known to have adverse impacts on the performance of the healthcare services. Attempts to overcome with this challenge have focussed largely on the demand management and the application of system wide p...
متن کاملApplication of metaheuristics through MATLAB optimisation toolboxes for the design of coupled resonator filters
There is a large number of applications in the design of telecommunication devices where it is necessary to apply optimisation techniques to find the best values for a set of parameters [2, 5]. Normally, it is not possible to solve those optimisation problems with analytical techniques, and the alternative is to use metaheuristic methods [6]. In this work we tackle the problem of designing coup...
متن کاملPassive Controller Design for Swing Phase of a Single Axis Above-Knee Prosthesis
In this research we design a passive controller for an above knee prosthesis. The controller is a linear spring and damper for swing phase motion, parameters of which determined via optimization of adjustment of the prosthesis shank motion with a desired shank angle trajectory comes from experimental data. In this way, we exerted a certain thigh motion, hip movement included, into the system as...
